Geo1
Online 3D Point Cloud Viewer for Geo1
& Aerial Filmworks
Overview
We worked with Geo1 on several projects, the most interesting so far was an online 3D viewer for point clouds scanned with special equipment.
It has an offline module that converts the data files to a format readable by the viewer, and the online module which provides the tool for uploading the scenes, embedding these into the website pages, and configuring the layout in a WYSIWYG manner.
Timeline
It was a “background” project. The development took about 30 hours of coding, and several hours of QA for verification, we have finished the whole project within the 3 weeks.
Key results
We’ve built a Windows-based offline module that provides an easy way of converting a .LAZ file into a set of web-embeddable files with cloud point data.
Additionally, a WordPress module that accepts the generated set of files, and prepares an embeddable block on the website that allows 3D visualizing and navigating through the point cloud - zooming.
The module works on all devices available right now.
The state of the 3D scene can be saved in a ‘snapshot’, so the admin could choose the best point to show it to the users.
